NC statues mandate that it is illegal to operate a golf cart on the sidewalk and only those individuals with valid drivers licenses may operate a golf cart on the street. In addition, all golf carts driven on the street must be registered, have a valid tag and insurance and be equipped with turn signals, headlights, and windshield wipers.
The Cornelius Police Department will respond to calls of concern by neighbors who witness carts being handled in an illegal or dangerous manner. You may call 911 to report your concerns. The safety of Peninsula residents is a high priority.
Each Owner of a vacant lot is required to keep the grass and weeds on the lot maintained. Maintenance is required to commence March 1st and continue through the end of November. Services should include mowing, edging curb lines, removing clippings, and blowing sidewalks and streets. If you own a vacant lot, please make sure arrangements to maintain the property are made.
